February is love your library month!

Special events at the Madison Public Library in February...


  • "Clean up" Fines The library will accept household cleaning supplies instead of money for overdue fines!  All donations will go to the Domestic Violence Network.
  • Blind Date with a Book No Valentine? No Problem! Take a chance - check out a book based just on its profile.  You might discover a new (or old) favorite!
  • Who will take the Plunge? 2nd annual Librarians' freezin' for a reason!  Put your $$$ in the bucket of the librarian YOU want to take the Plunge on March 28th!  All proceeds benefit the South Dakota Special Olympics.
    $$$ will be counted Monday, March 23rd
    • Donate online: MPL Polar Plunge 2015
      (just indicate in the "comment" section the librarian you are "voting" for!) 
  • "Drive-In" Movie @ the Library!
    • Friday, February 13th @ 1:30pm
    • Movie: TBA
    • "Cars" to watch in for ages 3-6
      (limited number, first come basis)
    • Children under 4 need to accompanied by an adult
  • 2015 Book BINGO! 
    • will run February 1st to March 31st 
    • 1 card per adult patron
    • All books must come from MPL. (electronic or physical)
    • Each book can only be used to fill 1 square on your BINGO card.

This program thoroughly researched by scholars Jefferson and Wilske presents a look into African American religious music particularly focused on the song, “Lift Every Voice and Sing!” which is still sung today with the same hope and fervor as it was four years after the 1896 Plessy vs. Ferguson Decision that ushered in “separate-but-equal” Jim Crowism.  These scholars will share the evolution of music, race relations, and the hope for today.
